Les organisations syndicales considèrent que la journée nationale d’action du 23 septembre 2010 est un franc succès. Les salariés du public et du privé, en participant massivement à cette 2ème journée de grèves et de manifestations du mois de septembre, ont réaffirmé leur détermination à ne pas accepter une réforme injuste et inefficace.

La journée d’hier a été marquée par l’engagement de nouveaux salariés du privé, notamment des PME mais aussi par la présence de plus de jeunes et de femmes. Cette vaste mobilisation s’accompagne d’un large soutien de la population qui refuse le report de l’âge légal de départ à la retraite de 60 à 62 ans ainsi que celui de 65 à 67 ans pour toucher une retraite à taux plein. Quoi qu’en dise le Gouvernement, la démobilisation suite au vote à l’Assemblée nationale, n’a pas eu lieu.

C’est bien l’exigence d’un véritable débat et l’examen d’autres alternatives au projet de loi qui s’expriment plus fortement.

Les organisations syndicales mettent en garde le Gouvernement sur les conséquences que provoquerait l’ignorance de la colère qui s’exprime profondément.

Les organisations syndicales réaffirment leur totale détermination. Elles confirment les termes de leur lettre ouverte unitaire au Président de la République et aux parlementaires, notamment : « le vote de ce projet dans sa logique actuelle n’est pas d’actualité ».

Elles invitent leurs organisations à poursuivre ensemble, à tous les niveaux, la mobilisation unitaire par des initiatives dans les territoires et les entreprises en interpellant les sénateurs et en utilisant (pétitions, tracts…) très largement cette lettre ouverte.

Sachant que le texte de loi sera à l’examen du Sénat à partir du 5 octobre et que la procédure parlementaire pourrait se poursuivre jusqu’au 20 octobre, elles décident :

• D’une grande journée de rassemblements et de manifestations dans le pays le samedi 2 octobre pour conforter la mobilisation et permettre l’engagement de nouveaux salariés dans l’action.

• De faire du mardi 12 octobre une nouvelle journée massive de grèves et de manifestations pendant le débat au Sénat. Cette journée trouvera toute sa place pour amplifier la mobilisation dans le cas où les parlementaires ne prendraient pas en compte ce qui s’est exprimé dans l’action et si le Gouvernement restait intransigeant. Le Gouvernement porterait l’entière responsabilité des suites que les salariés et leurs organisations entendront donner au 12 octobre.

Plusieurs organisations participeront à la journée de manifestation européenne du 29 septembre pour s’opposer aux plans de rigueur en Europe. Elle donnera l’occasion à des milliers de salariés français de porter leurs revendications, notamment sur la retraite, à Bruxelles et partout en France.

Les organisations syndicales se reverront le 4 octobre et analyseront la situation.

This paper discusses the quantum mechanics of closed timelike curves (CTC) and of other potential methods for time travel. We analyze a specific proposal for such quantum time travel, the quantum description of CTCs based on post-selected teleportation (P-CTCs). We compare the theory of P-CTCs to previously proposed quantum theories of time travel: the theory is physically inequivalent to Deutsch's theory of CTCs, but it is consistent with path-integral approaches (which are the best suited for analyzing quantum field theory in curved spacetime). We derive the dynamical equations that a chronology-respecting system interacting with a CTC will experience. We discuss the possibility of time travel in the absence of general relativistic closed timelike curves, and investigate the implications of P-CTCs for enhancing the power of computation.

Vous le retrouverez chaque semaine, sur le site, et il a commencé dès cette semaine par une charge prometteuse contre Jean-Luc Hees et Philippe Val. Exceptionnellement, nous avons voulu que cette chronique soit en libre accès à tous, abonnés et non abonnés. Vous pouvez donc la regarder ici (2).

Franchement, je ne m'attendais pas à un tel élan de votre part. Depuis que Didier Porte est parmi nous, plus de deux mille nouveaux abonnés nous ont déjà rejoints. A l'heure où je vous écris cette gazette, sa chronique, à peine en ligne depuis quarante-huit heures, a dé jà été vue trente mille fois. La preuve est faite : quand les médias traditionnels se cadenassent, les sites de presse comme le nôtre, indépendants de tout pouvoir, offrent désormais une alternative.

Mais ce n'est qu'un début. Dès la rentrée, et peut-être même avant, il faudra s'organiser pour renforcer cette alternative, et accueillir toutes les voix censurées par le système. C'est maintenant, que nous avons besoin de vous.

Posterous import works well, but what about the feeds?

The new "import" feature of Posterous seems to work well, at least with Tumblr, as you can see http://import-scyb.posterous.com/ looks pretty much like http://recyclage-paris.tumblr.com/ ... no? It doesn't? It's because Tumblr is updated by an RSS feed, while Posterous just took a snapshot at a given time.

I think Posterous import feature works well, but they should soon or later allow users to specify external feeds to increase their blog content.

Liquid Cooling and Reuse of Waste Heat in Super-Computers (Aquasar)

Aquasar is a joint project between the LTNT group at ETH and the IBM research lab in Zurich. In traditional air-cooling a huge amount of energy is consumed to cool super-computers. Switching to liquid-cooling has two advantages:

The energy consumption of the cooling system is reduced because only pumping power is required instead of using highly power consuming chillers to cool down the air before entering the system.
Connected to a heat exchanger the heated liquid can be reused for further applications.

These features result in a more efficient energy use which reduces the carbon footprint of super-computers.

The Aquasar-system will be installed at ETH Zurich to provide a first working example for the reuse of heat in liquid-cooled super-computers. The waste heat will be used in the heating system of the ETH. This project involves computational and experimental analysis of important parameters in order to optimize the system.

A Sony Ericsson staffer has admitted that the company's eagerly awaited Android-based touchscreen smartphone, the Xperia X10, lacks hardware support for multi-touch operation, dashing hopes that the feature's absence might be remedied by a firmware update.
