What do you consider the most groundbreaking development in computer technology?

This question was asked to Harlan Anderson, DEC co-founder, and his answer is:
From a hardware standpoint, it was magnetic core memory.

Below a 8 x 14 core memory plane, enough to hold a minicomputer bootstrap program for example!
